When it comes to softball, an average pitch speed will not tell the whole story.

In other words, an average pitch speed can be deceiving and misleading.

The average softball pitch speed is actually pretty fast. It’s not fast enough to be a fast pitch, but it’s fast enough that, in the end, it might be enough to knock an opposing pitcher out.

So if the ball is thrown at an angle of 45 degrees, the velocity is 16 feet per second times the length of the path the ball takes through the air. 16 feet divided by 45 is the same length as 16 feet, so the velocity is 16 feet in inches divided by the time it takes to complete a full circle.

According to the World Baseball Softball Confederation, a baseball has a vertical velocity of 15 feet per second and a horizontal velocity of 32 feet per second. So the velocity of a baseball would be (15 in) / 32 = 4.5 feet per second.
